We all know that as soon as Mother’s Day comes around, every retailer that has something that can resemble a Mother’s Day gift will market it. However, a lot of these items can be pricey, unnecessary, and unoriginal. So, I thought that I would put together a list of thoughtful and frugal Mother’s Day gifts that you can use instead.

List of Frugal Mother’s Day Gifts

1. Create A Card

You can always buy a Mother’s Day card from the store, but when you make it yourself it’s so much more special! Here are some ideas for a DIY card that you can make.

Become Her Personal Assistant

Become your mom’s assistant for the day! It’s something that you can do for absolutely free and I’m sure that she’ll love it.

Some things that you can do are:

  • Schedule some of her appointments
  • Help her to plan out event details (party, vacation, get-together with friends, etc.)
  • Answer or make phone calls
  • Run errands for her

Mother’s Day usually falls on a Sunday, so feel free to stretch your assistant duties to some other days of the week too!

Complete Chores/ Honey Do List

Does your mom have some household tasks that she didn’t get around to doing? Then, offer her a helping hand! It doesn’t matter if you’re just helping with household chores or crossing off tasks from her honey do list. It all just comes down to how many of these tasks that you can finish for her.

Have A Photo Shoot

Bring out your mom’s hidden modeling skills with this frugal Mother’s Day activity! All you need is your beautiful mom, a nice location, and a quality camera.

You can also do a photoshoot with your family and create a photo album for her.

Have A Movie Night

Does your mom loves to watch movies? Then why not host a movie night! You can bust out all the works and prepare buttery popcorn, cozy blankets, and, of course, your mom’s favorite movies!

Some places where you can look for her faves are video streaming services like Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Netflix. But if you’re looking for a cheaper alternative you can check out these great sites.

Visit Her Garden

Another frugal Mother’s Day gift that you can give your mom is spending time with her in her garden (or a local garden). You can help her weed her garden, water plants, prune leaves, and more. And, as a bonus, you can buy her another plant to add to it.

Offer a Free Massage Session

Life can sometimes be very stressful. And, although everyone has their own way of dealing with it, sometimes a massage is needed. So, if you’re great at giving massages, this might be a great gift for your mom.

You can also make it extra special by creating a spa-like vibe and offering facials, manicures, and pedicures.

Cook Her Brunch

Another idea is to make your mom brunch for Mother’s Day. Not only is it very inexpensive to make, it’s easy too.

Take Her On A Hiking Trip

If your mom loves spending time outdoors, take her hiking! You guys can catch up, enjoy nature, and get in your exercise for the day as well.

Make A Coupon Book

This frugal Mother’s Day gift is a classic. And the greatest thing about it is there is no limit to what you can make the coupons for. So, you can come up with your own original activities, or use another source (like this post) as a guide.

Make A DIY Gift Basket

Another frugal Mother’s Day gift that you can get for your mom is a gift basket. And don’t worry, you don’t have to go the store to buy it, you can just make it at home.

All you need to do is grab a basket (or container), gift basket bag, and several of your mom’s favorite things to create a nice gift for her.

Create A Picnic

The last frugal Mother’s Day gift that I think your mom will like is a picnic. You guys can visit a nice location and enjoy great picnic foods (like these) there.

I hope that you enjoyed these frugal Mother’s Day gifts! Which one would your mom enjoy?
